About Me

Louise headshotI have been working professionally in theatre for 15 years, and in that time have been fortunate enough to work in all areas of technical theatre, stage management and front of house, as well as developing a parallel career as a writer and director.  In 2010 I set up the company ‘Illumination Theatre Services’ to develop my freelance career, and three years later became a full-time freelancer.

Further details of my work as a lighting and sound designer can be found by following the links on the left-hand side of this page.  I also work as a lighting and sound operator.  I have worked with radio mics on a number of productions and am able to program and operate QLab. I am able to program a number of lighting desks, including the ETC Ion and Congo; Zero 88 Leapfrog and Orb; and Chamsys MagicQ.  I have also worked in a Chief LX role and as a relighter; and am experienced in repair, maintenance and PAT testing of a variety of technical equipment.  I have a small amount of lighting and sound equipment for hire and personal use, and I also manufacture electronic props.

I am a qualified first aider (until June 2017).  I have a full clean driving licence including Category C1 (Vehicles up to 7500kg).  I am a member of the Association of Lighting Designers, the Association of British Technicians and the Stage Management Association.

I began my career in amateur theatre, where a number of professional technicians gave their time and shared their skills and knowledge with me.  Inspired by this, I have undertaken to train and mentor the next generation of theatre technicians.  More information about this can be found in the links on the left-hand side of this page.
